Ivy Bauer is a brilliant environmental scientist, PhD candidate, and creator of a groundbreaking organic irrigation system. Just as everything in her life seems to be falling into place, tragedy strikes when her husband is killed in a biking accident. Seeking space to grieve and regroup, Ivy takes a summer job as a gardener on a Malibu estate.

That estate belongs to Conrad Reed, a once-successful Hollywood figure struggling to find his footing after the death of his wife. Now juggling his fading career, a sprawling property, and the care of his energetic stepson, Hudson, Conrad hopes hiring Ivy will simplify at least one part of his life.

Instead, Ivy brings more complication. Strong-willed and outspoken, she clashes with Conrad right away. Their differences spark constant tension, but as Ivy slowly connects with Hudson and becomes part of their lives, those sparks begin to shift into something deeper.
